• Meredith Loken

    PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR

    Meredith Loken is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam, where she is a board member of the Amsterdam Research Centre for Gender and Sexuality (ARC-GS) and a faculty affiliate with the Amsterdam Center for Conflict Studies (ACRN).

    Her research focuses on gender and armed conflict, and is published or forthcoming in International Security, Journal of Peace Research, International Studies Quarterly, European Journal of International Security, Security Dialogue, Journal of Human Rights, and Security Studies, as well as in Foreign Policy, the Washington Post, and other outlets.   • Hilary Matfess

    PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR

    Hilary Matfess is an Assistant Professor at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. She is also a Research Fellow at the Research on International Policy Implementation Lab, a Senior Associate (non-resident) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies' (CSIS) Africa Program, and a Term Fellow with the Council on Foreign Relations.

    In 2021, she graduated from Yale University with a PhD in Political Science. 2015, she graduated with an MA in International Relations, with a focus on African Studies from Johns Hopkins SAIS. Her research is at the intersection of security, gender, and governance, with a focus on sub-Saharan Africa. Her work has been published in International Security, Security Studies, Stability, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, and African Studies Review.

  • Jenny Hedström

    Jenny Hedström is an Associate Professor in War Studies at the Swedish Defence University. Her research concerns the relationship between households, gender, and warfare; gender, transitions, and peacebuilding; women’s activism and resistance; and ethics and methods when researching war, with a focus on civil wars in Myanmar.

  • Jenna Norosky

    RESEARCHER

    Jenna Norosky is a PhD student in the Department of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. They are a student of International Relations with interest areas including political violence, human security, and international war law. They are currently researching sexual violence against men in conflict, and human rights in the context of imperialism and counterinsurgency. Their research is interdisciplinary and draws from qualitative and critical methods. Jenna holds a B.A. in Political Science from Reed College.
